Too Late for Love follows Ava, portrayed by Kanita Washington, along with her friends Monica (Kinosha Soden), Sharise (Laylah Johnson), Tia (Rah Matthews), and her long-term boyfriend Marcus (Antonio T. Lee). Together, they confront unresolved emotions as past choices resurface and collide with present realities. The play explores themes of vulnerability, missed opportunities, and emotional accountability, offering audiences a powerful and relatable theatrical experience.
Antonio T. Lee, known for his work in “Christmas in Harmony,” “Deadly Sexy,” and various stage productions, brings depth and authenticity to the role of Marcus, a character defined by his loyalty and dedication to his partner. His performance marks another milestone in Antonio’s expanding body of work within socially driven and emotionally resonant storytelling.
“Too Late for Love is a story that feels incredibly timely,” Lee says. “It challenges audiences to reflect on the choices we make in love — and what happens when we wait too long to be honest with ourselves and others.”
The production runs this month at Busboys and Poets, under the direction of Kendell Lenice. The creative team includes KeeKee Willis and Kanita Washington.
